We’ve made it through the storm!

This summer has been a blur of heat and humidity, followed by days of rain and a brief tornado threat! We were very fortunate to only get rain and avoided flooding. No chicken housing was damaged over the last month, though our flock has had enough of both the heat and the rain. Despite the bad weather, the break in the heat may have made it all worth it! Our girls are much happier now and are getting back to producing the farm fresh organic eggs that make any meal a memorable one. Our new employees are doing well in their training programs and we anticipate adding dark brown eggs to our egg color palette (and palate!)

Word must have gotten out that we were expanding our company because we had a new applicant for a managerial position. We have since taken the “farm cat wanted” sign down, but our new junior associate (Shōtō, aka Ms. Kitty) is training under the watchful eye of Tantō (aka Mr. Kitty the livestock guardian cat) and she is going to be assuming the role of Operations Manager in charge of pest control.

We had a further interruption in our delivery schedule when our truck was rear ended in a hit and run accident, but we plan on returning to the Lenoir County Farmers Market on Tuesday, 8/20/24 and will resume our weekly schedule barring any other shenanigans!
