Hazy, hot and humid with a side of eggs!

It’s been a crazy hot couple of weeks and our girls have been taking breaks in their egg production, but are hanging in there. The recent storms have helped to break things up a bit and we have made several workplace improvements, including more break times for free ranging, new and improved office amenities, team building work groups, and new hires that are about to start contributing to lighten everybody’s load! Our current laying flock totals 24 hens, supervised by 4 roosters. They are separated into family units that work hard to provide farm fresh, organic eggs. Our laying flock breaks down to 3 Plymouth Barred Rock hens, one Midnight Majesty Maran, 3 Easter Egger hens, 4 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Americanas (technically also EEs,) 3 Black Star hens, and 7 Golden Comets. Their supervisors are one Plymouth Barred Rock Rooster (our oldest, at 1 1/2 yrs old), one Easter Egger Rooster, one Americana Rooster, and one Rhode Island Red Rooster. We have 2 sets of chicks that were bred and hatched on the farm that are not quite ready to join the workforce. They will be joining their parents soon and we will be reporting more on them as they complete their employee training program.

For up to the minute updates, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Our employees are had workers but when they work hard, they also play hard, so check back here periodically to follow their hijinks and other news.
